Surf at Folly this morning is averaging waist-to-stomach high with a chest set in a high angled north/north-east wind swell.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 20 knots, with some larger gusts. Surf is very choppy, side-shore and drifty from north-to south.
Look for north-east winds at 20 to 25 knots today and building easterly swell for the through Friday.
We are coming off a high tide at sunrise. Low tide will be at 1:52 p.m. and high tide will be at 7:52 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 8.5 ft. at 8 seconds in an east/north-east wind swell. Much of this swell is passing our beaches, but it’s big enough to where we are getting some high-angled, drifty, north-east wind waves.
We see high-angled north-east wind swell build today with choppy, drifty conditions and strong north-east winds. Winds should abate some on Friday and go more easterly – side-shore – Friday afternoon. We could see a clean up for Saturday as winds go west at the beach, and easterly swell begins to fade out. Surf fades some for Sunday, before we see small, long-boardable trade-wind swell to start the work week. Another cold front approaches mid-week, and we see more south wind swell at the beach for Tuesday of next week.
It is 46* with partly cloudy skies this morning. Look for a high of 57* today with sun and clouds mixed. There is a small craft advisory today.
Water temperature is now 57*
Sunrise is at 7:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
