Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, December 16 at 8:30 a.m.

Sorry for getting this up late. We had a sever crash. Dang man! Never seems to happen when it’s flat.

We just received a new shipment of Carver surf-skate boards at the shop just in time for Christmas.

We finally have some decent surf out here at Folly.

Surf at The Washout this morning waist-to-stomach high. There is a chest high set. We have some long-period ground swell in the water. So, it’s going to be closing out some at the lower tide at the Washout.

Winds are north at 5 knots, and it’s clean, early. Looks fun out there this morning.

Look for north-east winds at 5 to 8 knots later this morning, going south-east at 10 knots this afternoon. The wind shouldn’t pick up too much today, but look for some bump in the ground swell as the tide comes in late day.

Tide will be low at noon, and high again right after 6 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 ft at 10 seconds in a south-east swell, so there is plenty of swell at the buoy with a good direction. Look for a fun day of surf.

Looks like some fun surf today if you can get on it, and it’s warm out here at the beach for December.  High pressure sets up north-east of our marine area late week, look for flow to become more on-shore, bringing some small trade-wind ground swell to Folly Today and into Saturday, when a cold front approaches and brings winds south-west. North-east winds pick up Sunday after a cold front passage. North-east winds continue to start the Christmas workweek ahead of a low pressure forming along the south-east coast during the middle of next week. Should be some sort of waves for the next five days or so starting today.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail through late week, before a cold front arrives over the weekend. High pressure will then build in early next week. Low pressure could pass off the Southeast coast towards the middle of next week.”

It’s 58* with sun this morning. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 68* and sun with passing clouds today. Not bad beach weather for December.

Water Temperature is hovering around 59*.

Sunrise is at 7:13 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:14 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
