Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, Dec 5 at 8:30 a.m.
An Ocean Surf Shop gift card is a great Christmas gift for the surfer in your life. We can even take a credit card over the phone and mail the gift card for you, so come on by or give us a call at (843)588-9175.
Surf at Folly this morning is flat. Maybe knee high.
Winds are north-westerly at 10 knots, and surf zone is clean with texture.
Look for winds to be variable at 5 knots this afternoon, and we see a fairly clean surf-zone all day.
We are coming off a low tide, high tide will be at 2:34 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:41 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1 ft at 10 seconds in a long period ground swell with a north-west wind swell 5.2 ft. at 5 seconds blowing surf away from our beaches.
Unfortunately, surf looks small for the remainder of the work week. Our next chance for swell looks like it will take place this weekend as another storm system affects our marine area, brining bigger short-period north-east wind waves, building overnight Friday and during the day Saturday, with swell once again rotating more on shore for some better conditions by late in the day Sunday. We see on-shore flow into Monday and Tuesday of next week as high pressure sets up off the Mid-Atlantic coast and a warm front lifts north into our marine area. There will likely be some wind on it as a cold front approaches Tuesday evening, but we’ll keep an eye on that forecast for you.
We have nice weather. It is 50* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 63* today with sun.
Water temperature is now 57*
Sunrise is at 7:07 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:12 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Friday, as a coastal trough develops nearby on Friday. A cold front will pass through Friday night, followed by strong high pressure that builds inland over the weekend. A warm front will lift north of the region Monday, with a cold front to sweep through late Tuesday. Even stronger high pressure will return next Wednesday.”
