Parking: Yes.
Dangers: None.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, December 22 at 8:30 a.m.

We will close at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and be closed on Christmas Day. We will resume normal winter hours – from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – on December 26.

We also just got a new shipment of Carver Skateboard just in time for Santa.

Waves at the Washout this morning are waist-to-chest high and fairly clean.

Winds are west/north-west, and surf zone is clean, early. We look for west/south-west winds this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots. Hopefully the surf will stay overall semi-clean today.

Tide just started going out. Low tide today is at 12:51 a.m., with high tide to follow at 6:40 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 9 feet at 10 seconds in an east/south-east swell, so there is plenty of swell at the buoy, and plenty of surf at Folly today.

A low-pressure system moves near our marine area and pushes north today. And we should see big swell today with winds picking up this afternoon. Hopefully we continue to see some swell Friday morning with clean conditions, but westerly winds are predicted to be very strong, so surf will likely get pushed down after the morning high tide on Friday. The weekend looks very cold and very flat, with strong westerly winds predicted Through early next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Low pressure will lift north today, then a strong cold front will sweep through late tonight. Arctic high pressure will build in Friday and remain the dominant feature through much of next week.”

It’s a chilly and wet 50* this morning. There is a gale warning in effect late day. We should see the sun come out at some point this afternoon, with passing clouds.

Water temperature is now 56*, and will go down after this weekend’s cold snap.  Brrrr.

Sunrise is at 7:18 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:18 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
