Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, February 18 at 8:30 a.m.
We’ve got wet-suits jackets in the shop for spring. Yes, it’s STILL cold, but come by and get one while they are still available before the weather warms up. Wetsuit gear has been going fast.
Surf at The Washout is waist-to-stomach high. There is a bigger set occasionally. It certainly shows potential as the tide comes in.
Winds are north-west at 15 knots, and surf is very clean with a bit of drift down the beach.
Look for winds to switch on-shore from the south-east at 10 knots this afternoon with rain and storms in the area.
Tide is coming in. High tide is at 12:17 p.m. and we have a low tide at 6:13 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 3.4 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium-period south/south-east swell.
We see a warm front lift through the area today as a cold front approaches our marine area overnight. There should be some bigger semi-choppy south swell today, building this afternoon with moderate on-shore winds bumping it up. Surf could clean up some Friday on the incoming tide as south wind swell begins to drop out later in the day Friday, and winds are currently forecast to be offshore. Surf looks smaller for the weekend with strong north winds in the forecast, but we see another cold front approach early next week, bumping up south wind-swell for Monday into Tuesday morning.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A warm front will lift northward and linger across the forecast area today. A cold front will then push offshore tonight. High pressure will gradually build in from the west Friday, then prevail through the weekend. Another cold front could impact the region early next week.”
It is 52* this morning with showers and clouds at the beach. Look for a high of 59* with rain and clouds today.
Water temperature is 52*.
Sunrise is at 6:58 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:07 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
