Surf at Folly this morning running knee-to-thigh high and is building in a high-angled north/north-east wind swell.

Winds are from the north at 15 to 18 knots, and surf is side-shore, soft and and semi-clean with a drift down the beach, north-to-south.

Look for winds to increase north at 20 to 25 knots this afternoon, with side-shore conditions and semi-clean surf with lots of current down the beach today.

We have a low tide at 11:43 a.m., and a high tide will at 5:43 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 8.2 ft. at 7 seconds in an east/north-east wind swell, most of which is headed to out south.

We see building, drifty north-east wind swell in the forecast for your Thursday building and increasing some on Friday. Today, we see a low-pressure system pass off-shore. For Friday, we’ll have strong north-east winds and bigger, choppy, drifty north-east wind swell sweeping down the beach. This trend continues into the weekend. This north-east swell and wind will fall off some for Sunday, before another storm system brings south wind swell Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will develop off the Southeast coast today, then lift northeast away from the area through tonight. Cold high pressure will build in Friday through the weekend. Another storm system will impact the area during the early to middle of next week.”

It’s a chilly 49* and cloudy this morning. Temperature will not change today, and we see lots of rain by afternoon. Possibly over one inch.

Water temperature is 58*.  It will likely drop back to 54* by the end of the weekend after this cold snap.

Sunrise is at 6:56 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:08 p.m.
