Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, February 6 at 8 a.m.
New Catch Surf, Beater and Odysea soft-boards have arrived at Ocean Surf Shop. Come check ‘em out.
Surf at Folly this morning running waist-to-stomach high and starting to build some on an out-going tide.
Winds are south/south-west at 10 to 15 knots, and the surf zone is choppy and getting drifty up the beach, from north-to-south.
There is a gale warning in effect for today, and we see very strong south/south-west winds today at 25 to 35 knots with choppy, drifty, “Victory at Sea” conditions this afternoon as a cold front approaches.
We have a low tide at 11:30 a.m., and high tide at 5:30 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.2 feet at 7 seconds in a building south wind swell
Today, surf looks looks to ramp up with a decent shot of south/south-west swell from a strong front that looks to push through our coastal area overnight. Friday, winds go strong west, so it might clean up some for Friday, but it could also be blown out, depending on the angle of the westerly winds, which are predicted at 25 to 35 knots. This looks like a very windy swell event, as there is a gale warning in effect today and Friday. But there should be some size to the surf if you are into a big, windy, drift-session. Surf looks to fall off for the weekend, before picking back up some Monday afternoon as a front drops into our marine area, bringing more south wind-swell.
It’s 67* and cloudy at the beach. Expect rain, wind and thunderstorms today with a high of 71*.
Water temperature is 55*. You’ll need at least a 4/3, and booties to be comfortable in the surf.
Sunrise is at 7:10 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:56 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
