Good morning this is Bates with you Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, February 2 at 8:30 a.m.

All full wetsuits have been marked down 20%. We also have some hoods and gloves in stock. We have cold water waves on the way next week, so save some money and have a suit for next season at a great bargain.

We also have a ton of new wetsuits jackets and spring-suits for men and kids. They just arrived, so get them before it starts to get warmer, which is right around the corner.

Surf at Folly this morning is around knee high with a thigh set. It’s a bit weak, but rideable on the longboard.

Winds are north-east around 5 to 10 knots and surf zone is semi-clean.

Winds should continue light from the north-east this afternoon, and we should see a semi-clean surf zone today.

We have a low tide approaching at 11:41 a.m. High tide will fill in at 5:45 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 feet at 7 seconds in a medium period east/north-east swell with a short period north-east wind swell 4.3 feet at 5 seconds.

We see low pressure move into our marine area tonight into Friday, and winds are predicted to go north-east for late week, going strong north/north-east for Saturday. This will build high angled north-east wind swell into our beaches with lots of drift for Saturday. High pressure moves off the mid-Atlantic states Sunday and will hopefully direct some swell on-shore Sunday before day’s end, with lighter north-east winds in the forecast. Looks like waves will pick up significantly on Monday and swell will linger into Tuesday with warmer weather and moderate winds as low-pressure forms to our south-east and high pressure sets up off the Mid-Atlantic. This should push up a decent swell Monday into Tuesday of the next work week. Might be a fun mid-winter swell early next week. Smaller but rideable swell should still be pushing in during the middle of next week.

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will stall over the area today. Low pressure will produce widespread rainfall tonight into Friday. Colder high pressure will then build over the region late week into the weekend. High pressure will persist and temperatures will moderate through early next week.”

It’s 54* and super foggy this morning. Look for a high of 70* today with clouds and a slight chance for some showers all day.

Water temperature is 57*.

Sunrise is at 7:13 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:53 p.m.
