Thursday, February 26
Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, February 26 at 8:30 a.m.
We have new spring merchandise arriving daily, so please stop by and say hello when you get out to the beach.
Drainage work continues on Center Street, so it’s two lanes in places.
As of now, Sea and Sand Festival is this weekend, so Center Street will be closed off and we’ll see you out here Saturday.
Surf at the pier is not good. It’s knee-to-thigh high and very choppy and drifty. Surf is – however – building. We should see some waist to chest high surf this evening as south-west winds keep the surf zone super choppy and drifty.
Winds are currently southwest at 15 to 20 knots, and expected to stay southwest 20 to 25 knots for your Thursday ahead of an approaching cold front.
We have a low tide at 9:25a.m. high tide at 3:30 p.m. The next low tide is 9:30 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is 5.2 ft at 5 seconds from the SW. With a 2.0ft at 12 sec from the East
Friday morning looks like a best bet for slight clean-up of this choppy, pre-frontal wind swell. Not much to write home about, but give it a look as the tide starts to come in Friday morning. Surf looks small this weekend as high pressure sets up. Early next week looks like another blast of north-east wind swell rolling into Folly, with potential for a clean up middle of next week. There is some hope on the horizon.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through tonight. A cold front will push through the area Friday before high pressure returns and prevails into early next week.”
Water temp is still around 51*, so boots/gloves and a 4/3 suit are still in order. It should start warming up in the coming weeks.
It’s 58* and cloudy. Look for mostly cloudy skies and a high of 65*.
Sunrise was 6:54 a.m. Sunset 6:13 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
