Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January 16 at 8:30 a.m.

Now is a good time to order a custom Stewart, as we’ll be placing an order this week for spring. Call us at 843-588-9175.

Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-stomach high with a chest-high set and it has some bump in it, but there are some clean sections as the tide comes in this morning.  It’s closing out a bit at the low tide, but should get better in the incoming.

Winds are light from the west at about 5-10 knots until wind rotates north at 15 to 20 knots late day after a cold front passage. Overall, surf should stay clean until late afternoon.

We have a high tide at 12:09 a.m., and a low tide will be at 6:27 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 10 seconds in south-east swell.

This south trade-wind swell continues today, but surf is dropping as a cold front moves through our waters. Swell rotates from the north-east in a high angled north-east wind swell for Friday. This north-east wind swell continues on Saturday. Sunday sees winds from the south/south-west ahead of a stronger cold front. Surf should increase some on Sunday, before getting blown down late day on Sunday as north winds increase behind a strong cold-front.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will cross the area today, followed by high pressure through Saturday. Another cold front is expected to move through on Sunday, followed by cold and dry high pressure through the middle of next week.”

It’s 65* this morning some rain and clouds. Look for a high of 75* today with rain and clouds. Rain ends late.

Water temperature is up to 60* with the warm flow over the weekend, but that will likely go back down with more seasonable weather returning over the weekend.

Sunrise is at 7:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:36 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
