Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January 6 at 8:30 a.m.

We just received a shipment of Gary Wilson surfboards as well as a batch of Solid Surfboard mid-lengths and logs. There are some new Beater 54” twin fins and Odysea bodyboards on the racks as well. Come check them out.

Surf at The Washout this morning is flat-to-knee high.

Winds are west at 5 knots, and surf-zone is mostly clean and it’s weak.

Look for winds to come south-west at 10 knots this afternoon ahead of a cold front approaching for tonight. Surf should get some bump in it later today, and should build in a short-period south-west wind wave overnight.

We have a high tide at 11 a.m., and a low tide at 4:50 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 ft at 11 seconds in an easterly long-period easterly ground swell.

Surf looks to average knee high today. Another cold front approaches overnight, and surf picks up in a short period south-west wind wave. This cleans up and drops rapidly on Friday morning as the tide comes in after the cold front moves through overnight on Thursday. Tomorrow morning might be your best bet for some cold, clean surf. But it will be short-lived. We see high angled north-east wind waves for Saturday of the semi-choppy variety, this falls off for Sunday. Another cold front moves thought Sunday night, with a quick shot of south-west wind swell before winds go strong north on Monday and blows down the wind swell.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will impact the area late tonight into Friday, followed by high pressure. Then, another cold front is expected to move through the area early next week.”

It’s currently 48* with bright sun at the beach. Look for a decent beach day with a high of 60* and sun until late afternoon.

Water Temperature is hovering around 59*.  That’s going to drop out with the north flow.

Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:28 p.m.
