Semi-glassy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat-ankle
Traffic: None
Parking: Lots
Dangers: None

Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January 21 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is flat-ankle and weak.

Winds are west/north-west and surf zone is mostly clean with some added texture.

Look for winds to rotate west/south-west at 5-10 knots and remain this direction through the remainder of the day. We will continue to see small waves and a flat surf zone all day.

We are coming off a low tide this morning 7:46 a.m., and high tide will be at 1:59 p.m. Low tide this evening will be 8:05 p.m.

Virtual buoy data is reading a 2.3 ft. at 4 seconds in a short-period west/south-westerly wind-swell.

For now, there is not much hope for meaningful surf this week as winds stay side/offshore from the west/south-west Thursday into Friday. Perhaps a small south-west wind swell bump on Friday, but side-shore winds late in the work week make for poor conditions. Winds go strong north-east on Saturday, and we should see some high-angled, thigh-high north-east wind swell on Saturday with lots of current and semi-choppy conditions. Surf could pick up late Monday into Tuesday as another cold front approaches our marine area and brings some pre-frontal south wind swell.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will subside today as a cold front advances from the northwest. The front will then move offshore Friday, with high pressure returning for the weekend. Another cold front is expected to affect the area Monday into Tuesday.”

It is 52* with clouds this morning. Look for a cloudy beach day with a high of 59*.

Water temperature is down to 52*.

Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:43 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
