Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January 26 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-stomach high and perhaps larger.

It has a good bit of side/off-shore westerly winds in it, so conditions are not perfect.

Winds are west at around 10 to 15 knots this morning. Look for winds at 15 to 20 beating down the surf later today.

Tide is incoming with a high at 11:29 a.m. low tide this afternoon at 5:43 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.6 feet at 7 seconds in a short period, west/south-west wind swell, pushing away from our beaches.

Westerly winds are going to be strong and gusty today, beating down the surf later today. There are a few fun waves this morning. Friday and the weekend waves are looking small as high pressure sets up. Look for another quick shot of south-west wind swell for your Monday ahead of an approaching frontal boundary. Winds go strong north-east behind this front and we see choppy, high angled north-east wind swell build Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will persist into the weekend, before another system brings unsettled weather early next week.”

It’s 48* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 56* and sun with windy conditions at the beach.

Water temperature, it’s 55*.

Sunrise is at 7:18 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:45 p.m.
