Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January 7  at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly this morning is flat on the low tide this morning.

Winds are north/north-west at 10 to 12 knots, and surf zone is clean and weak.

Look for winds to rotate north-east this morning at 10 knots. Going easterly at 15 knots later today as a low pressure system moves into our area.

We just came off a low tide this morning. We have a high tide at 2:10 p.m., and a low tide at 8:30 p.m.

Virtual buoy data is reading 1.4 ft. at 11 seconds in a high-angled north-east ground swell.

Not much swell at the buoy, and not many waves at the beach this morning. Look for increasing surf overnight as a low-pressure system crosses our marine area. Friday morning could product moderate winds from the north-west and some fun surf, but swell will be short-lived as winds increase from the west late Friday afternoon with Surf falling off for Saturday. There will be a similar low pressure crossing our marine area early next week, possibly producing some surf for Tuesday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Low pressure will impact the area tonight into Friday. High pressure will prevail late weekend into early next week, before another low pressure system tracks across the area by the middle of next week.”

It is a 43* and sunny this morning. Look for a few more clouds this afternoon, and a high of 56*.

Water temperature is 56*.

Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:29 p.m.
