Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, July 14 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set. Maybe slightly bigger from time to time. It is semi-clean this morning. There is a rare stomach-high set, but it is a bit weak at the higher tide. Looks fun and rideable on a high volume board.

Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 10 knots.

We are expecting winds to increase south at 10 to 15 by mid-afternoon. We should see a choppy surf-zone today.

We saw a high tide at 8:49 a.m., and a low tide at 2:54 pm. The next high tide is at 9:35 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 feet at 6 seconds in a short period south/south-east wind swell

We’re looking at small, choppy, but rideable wind swell today in the thigh high-plus range. It’s about the at the same low quality, short-period south-west wind swell we normally see this time of year. This trend continues into the weekend. We could see a more significant swell Sunday into early next week as low pressure from the GOMEX passes near our marine area and high-pressure sets up well off the Mid-Atlantic states, pushing in some swell.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will slowly give way to a stalling cold front late this week which will dissipate inland early next week.”

It’s 81* and mostly sunny this morning and breezy.  Look for a high of 86* and a mix of sunshine and passing clouds. We’ll likely see a thunderstorm again this evening.

Water Temperature is around 85*.

Sunrise is at 6:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:28 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
