Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, June 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Coming to you from the Washout this morning, waves are knee high. There is a thigh high set, and the longboarders are catching a few.
Winds are southwest at around 6 knots – light side-shore – and waves are clean and small at the higher tide this morning.
Winds are forecast to increase from the south-west at 10 knots.
We have a high tide at 10:23 a.m. this morning. Low tide will be at 4:10 p.m., and the next high tide will be at 10:31 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 4 seconds in a short period south-west wind swell.
Waves are small this morning and looking small for today. For Friday, we should see strong south-west winds late week ahead of a front. This could push up a little choppy, small swell for late in the week and into Saturday. There is a low that came off the coast of Africa in the Eastern Atlantic that could develop, but with this “hot-ass” high pressure set up over/offshore of our marine area, we’d be surprised if it makes any headway. We’ll keep you updated.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A weak front will stall over or near our area late this week through early next week, followed by High pressure towards the middle of next week.”
Water temperature is around 85*.
It’s 84* and partly cloudy this morning. Expect sunny to partly cloudy and hot today with a high of 90* and a heat index around 110* Stay hydrated!
Sunrise is at 6:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:28 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
