Time of Report: 10:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-to-thigh.
Traffic: Yes, but easy to get on the island.
Parking: GET OFF OF MY GRASS!
Dangers: GRASS.

Good morning everybody, this is Bates with your VERY LATE Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, July 7 at 10 a.m., posted at 11 a.m. because it takes an hour to get it all together. Sorry for the late report. My dog ate my homework.

Coming to you from The world famous Folly Beach pier, where everyone from the Mid-West currently bathes in the hot sun, and the reflection from the tanning oil could possibly generate enough solar power to light Williams Brice Stadium OR Death Valley for about five minutes on Saturday game-day.

Surf at Folly this morning is knee to thigh high and sheet-glass, hot-and-humid to flat steam-bath.

Winds are light and variable, and a BIG log is the call for a long glide.

We see east winds at 10 to 15 this afternoon, and surf should get choppy later today.

High tide is at 12:38 a.m., and low tide will be at 6:27 p.m.

The Edisto buoy reads 2.6 at 5.6 seconds in a short period south-west wind swell.

Might be some building south swell for tomorrow as winds pick up strong from the south at 10 for morning, then south at 15 to 20 in the afternoon. Clean up for Saturday morning? Weekend warriors. Stay relatively sober Friday night, poop very early Saturday morning and load the truck. If it sucks (coin flip), head to the flea market in Ladson and get that $3 pocket knife you’ve had your eye on. Saturday morning is always fun. Into next week, marine weather forecasts from NOAA has seas building from the south/south-west with troughing inland. A typical summer weather pattern.

Our friends over at NOAA predict: “A weak front will meander across the area through Saturday. Atlantic high pressure will then rebuild across the area while a surface trough exists inland Sunday through the middle of next week.”

The water temperature is hovering right around 82*.

It’s currently 82* and sunny. We have a mix of sun and clouds today and most likely a thunder storm at some point. We also have a high temp. of 87*.

Sunrise 6:20 a.m., Sunset 8:29 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf, check back tomorrow.
