Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, June 16 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Pier this morning is knee-high and overall clean with a little texture, if not a little weak. Might be a slightly larger set. Only for the longboard this morning. Better get it before the wind comes up and the tide goes out.

Winds are east/south-east at 9 knots, and surf zone is weak and full of water

Look for east winds 5-10 knots this morning, going south-east at 15 to 20 knots this afternoon. We see a choppy, moderately drifty surf zone later today.

High tide will be at 10:02 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:03 p.m. The next high tide at 10:44 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 5.9 seconds in a small medium-period south-east swell.

We continue to see short-period south wind swell and overall weak surf today and Friday, with waves averaging knee-to-thigh high. Look for knee-to-thigh high easterly wind swell continue for Saturday with a side-shore north wind keeping surf a big cleaner. Surf builds in a high-angled north-east wind swell for Sunday into Monday. Nothing to write home about, but perhaps rideable on the high-volume board for Sunday and Monday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Hot and dry high pressure will prevail into late week before a cold front impacts the region early in the weekend. High pressure will return thereafter.”

It’s 80* and sunny this morning. We have a heat advisory in effect today, with daytime temperatures reaching 88*. There will be sun mixed with hazy clouds this afternoon.

Water Temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:29 p.m.
