Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, June 25 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is knee high. It’s typical, small summer style south-west wind swell.

Winds are south-west at 10 to 12 knots, and surf is side-shore, weak and semi-choppy.

Winds should increase from the south-west throughout the day, blowing 10 to 10 later this afternoon, with small, choppy south-west wind waves for your afternoon session.

We have a high tide at 11:45 a.m., and a low tide at 5:42 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 5 seconds in a predominantly short period south/south-west wind swell.

Still waiting for the first ground swell of summer. We should see south/south-west wind swell continue in the knee-to-thigh-high range with poor form late afternoon on the lower tide. It could build some, with south-west winds increasing, but not looking like much. We see drifty, choppy conditions this afternoon.  Surf stays small through the weekend, and unfortunately we’re not looking at real surf for the next five days. Welcome to  the doldrums of South Carolina’s summer-style surf.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough of low pressure will exist over or near the area into early next week. A cold front could approach by the middle of next week.”

It’s 77* and cloudy at the beach early this morning. Look for hot, humid day with a high of around 85* with sun and a 30% chance for rain today.

Water temperature is 80*.

Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
