Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, March 10 at 8:30 a .m.

We have a great selection of spring-suits and jackets at the shop. Come pick one up while we still have some in stock.

Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high. It’s kind of closing out at the lower tide, but should improve with the tide push mid-morning.

Winds have switched to the north at 5 knots, and surf-zone is side-shore but cleaner than it was yesterday.  It has shed some size, however.

Look for east winds around 10 to 12, knots going north late day. There shouldn’t be too much wind today, and surf should be semi-clean as it rains today.

We have an incoming tide, high at 1:30 p.m. Low tide will be at 7:22 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is showing a mixed easterly swell in the water. Swell is 2.6 ft at 9 seconds in a medium period south-east swell, with a short period wind swell 3 ft at 6 seconds.

A series of fronts moves through the marine area late week. There should be something to ride today as winds are north, cleaning things up a bit, but the size has dropped some. Friday sees continued rideable surf, but winds will come north-east and make surf side-shore and semi-choppy, with wave averaging thigh-to-waist high. Big changes will take place Saturday morning, as surf builds overnight Friday in a south wind swell ahead of a strong cold front. Winds go strong west at some point on Saturday. This could clean it up or blow surf out. Winds are predicted REALLY strong from the west on Saturday with significant, short period south wind swell pushing against west winds. Weather gets cold and surf will be flat for your Sunday. But no worry. We see another significant south wind swell for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A series of low-pressure systems will move up the coast today through Friday night. A strong cold front will then sweep through Saturday morning, followed by cold high pressure through early next week. A storm system could affect the area Tuesday into Wednesday.”

It’s 58* with clouds this morning. Look for a cloudy day with rain showers in the area. We see a high of 63*.

Water Temperature is up to around 64*. It’ll drop after this weekend’s cold snap, but is generally on the way up.

Sunrise is at 6:38 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:22 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
