Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, March 11 at 8:30 a.m.
New mid-length and longboard shapes have arrived from Gary Wilson. We also got a fresh batch of EPS/Epoxy boards from Roberts. Shop is starting to fill up with boards again, so come check out the new shapes.
Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh high. Maybe slightly larger sets rolling in.
Winds are light out of the north-east at 2 knots, and surf-zone is very clean.
Look for winds to pick up minimally from the south-east this afternoon at 5 knots. Surf should remain glassy to semi-glass throughout the day.
High tide was an early 6:36 a.m. this morning. We have a low tide this morning at 12:32 a.m. We have a high tide again tonight at 6:49 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 1.2ft at 9 seconds in a medium period, east, south-east ground swell.
Should be able to find some fun rides out there, although smaller in size. If you bring a board with more foam, you might be able to throw some maneuvers in the mix! Surf looks begin to show signs of real-life Friday, when we should see a longer period east/south-east trade-wind swell fill in Friday and into the weekend with moderate south winds in the forecast. Friday though Monday shows promise for some decent surf with warm temperatures. A cold-front approaches to start the next work week, and we should see stronger easterly swell with choppy conditions as a storm system approaches our marine area. So, surf is in the forecast.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail off the Southeast coast through the end of the week. Next week a backdoor cold front followed by a storm system could bring some impacts to the region.”
It is currently 61* with sun. Look for a great beach day with a high of 68* and lots of sunshine.
Water temperature is around 57*.
The days are getting longer. Sunrise is at 6:33 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:25 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
