Clean early. Bumpy later.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Waist-to-stomach. Chest set.
Traffic: Kinda busy.
Parking: Still some around. Lots of cars at key surf spots.
Dangers: Work.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, March 12 at 8:30 a.m.

We have tons of new board-shorts and apparel for men and women just arriving at the shop. Lots of new spring inventory in stock, and still plenty of last seasons walk-shorts on sale. Come get ready for warmer weather at Ocean Surf Shop.

Waves at Folly this morning are waist to stomach high with a chest set and are a bit soft morning’s high tide.

Winds are west at 4 knots, and surf-zone is clean.  Looks like a great day of warm, spring surf.

Look for winds to pick up from the south-west today ahead of a cold front, blowing 10 knots with perhaps a higher gust. We see bumpy, but fun, trade-wind surf later this afternoon.

High Tide is at 10:46 a.m. Low tide is at 4:53 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is down and not reading, but we are seeing east/south-east wind swell today average waist high and it should continue as high pressure is set up off the Mid-Atlantic, pushing in some surf.

South swell builds for the latter part of the week, through Friday. We will see south-west winds pick up ahead of a slow-moving cold front Friday. Adding chop to the trade-wind swell. High pressure is set up off-shore. This should push in south swell through late week.  We should see a fresh north-east wind swell for the weekend as a front stalls and lingers in our marine area, but the form and the swell direction won’t be quite as nice as it has been during the work week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will persist offshore through Friday. A cold front will pass through the area Friday night, then linger over the region this weekend into the middle of next week.”

It’s 59* with sunny skies this morning. Look for partly cloudy skies and a high of 72* today. We have perfect beach weather.

Water temperature is around 59*.

Sunrise is at 7:31 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:25 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
