Good morning this is Bates your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, March 23 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly showing knee-to-thigh high with waist high sets. Maybe slightly bigger. Looks like there are some fun rides to be had for the high-volume board.

Winds are slack, and surf zone is bumpy and kind of weak at the higher tide.

We had a high tide at 10 a.m., and a low tide at 3:56 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:16 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 7 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell. With a short-period, south wind swell reading 2.3 feet at 5 seconds.

There is some on-shore flow, so there is a little wave out here today. We do expect winds to come strong from the south this afternoon at 15 to 20 later today. This will build wind chop surf from the south. We should see bigger south-to-south-west wind swell begin to fill in again Friday, building Saturday with choppy, drifty, windy conditions and strong south-west winds. This trend continues Sunday as surf begins to lose size, and south winds begin to abate to start the next work week.

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through the rest of the week. A cold front is expected to pass through on Saturday, followed by unsettled conditions early next week.”

It’s warm this morning. It’s 59* and foggy with the sun starting to burn through. Look for nice beach weather with a high of 71* and sun today.

Water temperature fell back to 60*. Brrrrr.

Sunrise is at 7:19 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:33 p.m.
