Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, March 3 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-thigh high and soft at the high tide. Not as much swell in the water today as has been this week. Bring the long-board is the best call.
Winds are light from the west/south-west, and surf zone is side-shore, but overall clean this morning.
Look for winds to continue west this morning, going south-west this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots, and we see a semi-choppy surf zone later today as south-west winds pick up.
We have a high tide as of report time, low tide will be at 2:21 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:32 p.m
The Edisto Buoy has fallen off overnight. There is a medium period ground swell 2.6 ft at 9 seconds from the east, with a fresh, short-perid south-west wind swell 2 ft. at 4 seconds.
Surf goes smaller mid-to-late week, and we see small, choppy, north-east wind swell building for Friday. Look for another south trade-wind swell this weekend with bigger conditions and south winds as high pressure sets up well off the mid-Atlantic starting small-ish Saturday and building Sunday as a cold front approaches and high pressure sets up off the mid-Atlantic. Should be bigger waves starting late Sunday and this trend continues into the middle part of the next work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A backdoor cold front will approach from the north tonight and push south of the region Friday. A cold front could impact the region by the middle of next week, bringing unsettled conditions.”
It’s 58* with sun. Expect a nice beach day with a high of 69* (dude) and sun.
Water Temperature is up to around 60*. It should be on the rise later this week as warm temperatures return.
Sunrise is at 6:44 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:18 p.m.
