Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report for Thursday, May 16th at 8:00 a.m.
Surf at the Pier looks pretty fun. Running around thigh high and glass with some little lines. Beautiful day to be on the beach
Currently winds are NW at 8mph. Look for winds to rotate to out of the south around 5-10mph this afternoon
We had a low tide at 9:22 a.m., and a high tide at 3:44 p.m. today.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 foot at 7 seconds from the south/south-east in a medium period swell
This morning is showing a nice little glassy line on the dropping tide. If the wind holds off it could be fun on the incoming tide until the wind switches. Surf will become small to start Friday morning, but by days end we can look to see some onshore flow begin and run into Saturday. Looks like we should have some unstable weather with onshore winds picking our surf back up a notch for the weekend. Weve Got waves go surf.
According to NOAA; “High pressure will prevail today and persist into Friday. A storm system will affect the area this weekend, followed by high pressure from the north next week.”
Water temperature is hovering right around 73, so spring suits and jackets are the call for mornings. It’s currently 69 and sunny. Today we see a high of 78* and sunny.
Sunrise 6:19 a.m., Sunset 8:13 p.m.
That’s all from us at Ocean Surf, check back tomorrow.
