Good morning, this is Scott with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, May 27 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a big shipment of custom, Epoxy Stewart longboards: 949s, Redlines and a Ripster, as well as some new Solid Mfg. mid-lengths. Come check them out.
Surf at The Washout this morning is about knee-high with an occasional thigh set.
Winds are south-west at 11 knots, and surf is weak, choppy, and slightly drifty up the beach.
Winds are going to stay south-west however the wind will die down for a few hours and it will pick up again around 3PM.
It is currently high tide and then we have a low tide at 3:15 p.m. The next high tide will be at 9:55 p.m.
We have a local south-west wind swell producing the light bump on the water today. The best bet is a bigger board and no real expectations for great swell. Hopefully, the latter part of the week produces some better surf.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “For today through Fri, high pressure centered well offshore and a
meandering Central-Eastern Carolinas trof, will combine to produce
modest SW winds with gusty afternoon and evening S winds nearshore
from the inland pushing sea breeze. An approaching but slow moving
cold front late Fri, will move off the Carolina coasts Sat and well
offshore Sun. Cool high pressure will follow late Sun thru early next
week.”
It is starting to feel like summer and today shows a high of 86* with a low of 73*. Mid-day should be a great beach day!
Water temperature is around 78*.
Sunrise is at 6:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:20 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
