Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, May 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is ankle-to-knee high.

Winds are north/north-west at 10 knots and surf zone is very clean. Best for a long-board for sure.

Look for winds to pick up from the north at 10 to 15 later this morning, then clock east at 10 to 15 later this afternoon. Surf should be choppy by late day.

We have a low tide at 10:56 a.m., and a high tide will be at 5:15 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 1.9 ft. at 6 seconds in a medium period south wind-swell, south-east ground swell combo.

We have small surf for today, getting a bit choppy by late day. High pressure begins to set up for the end of the week and into the weekend, as surf gets smaller Friday and Saturday. Another cold front approaches our marine area on Sunday, and surf once again picks up a bit on the incoming tide late day on Sunday. Look for moderate south winds and choppy conditions. Surf builds in size overnight on Sunday into Monday in a choppy south/south-west wind swell ahead of a cold front.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A cold front will advance through the region today. Weak low pressure will develop near the Southeast coast tonight and will move away through Friday. Drier high pressure will then prevail through this weekend. Another cold front is expected to push into the region early next week. The front could stall just south of the area, allowing low pressure to track over the Southeast around the middle of next week.”

This morning is partly cloudy and 73* on the beach. Look for a partly cloudy day with a high of 75*. We have really nice beach weather.

Water temperature is up to around 74*. You can almost go out with a neoprene top if the air is warm enough.

Sunrise is at 6:26 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:06 p.m.
