Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, Nov.5 at 8:30 a.m.

We have moved  to our winter hours now that the time has changed. We will be open from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Surf at Folly is ankle to knee, semi-choppy and weak with a side-shore north/north-east wind about 10 to 12 knots. There is an occasional larger set, and surf should start building some today.

Look for winds to rotate north-east, then east and remain around 10 to 12 knots for afternoon. Small surf should have a bump on it later today.

High tide will be at 10:16 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:47 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is down. Virtual buoy data is showing 2.3 ft. at 8 seconds in a very small east swell.

Surf looks small for today, but models are picking up onshore flow to begin this afternoon as high pressure moves off the Mid-Atlantic coast and low pressure develops over our coastal waters, creating onshore flow. This will build our surf Friday and through the weekend. Winds will trend moderate north-east for the period, so it will likely have some bump/chop in it.  Also, we have Tropical Storm Eta approaching the southwestern Caribbean late in the weekend that looks to perhaps push into south Florida late this weekend into early next week, enhancing our onshore flow and looking to build our surf as high pressure stays anchored to the north-east. Models are still not to aligned or consistent for the long term but certainly something for us to keep our eyes on, for continued, bigger surf into next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will persist across the region this week while a broad area of low pressure develops over the coastal waters and drifts onshore this weekend. High pressure should then build over the region early next week before a cold front approaches the area during the middle of next week.”

It’s 65* with sun behind high clouds this morning. Look for a high of 72* with sun behind clouds today. We have perfect fall beach weather.

Water temperature has dropped to 68*.

Sunrise is at 6:41 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:24 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
