Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, Nov. 7th at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is averaging knee-to-thigh high.

Winds are north at 10 to 12 knots, and surf is side-shore and fairly clean, with some drift north-to-south, down the beach.  It should pick up a bit late morning.

Look for winds to rotate more north-east, then south-easterly late this afternoon at 10 knots. This should add some bump in the surf zone.

Low tide will be at 9:52 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:12 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell with a fresh, increasing short-period east/north-east wind swell, 4.9 ft. at 7 seconds.

We have high angled east wind swell in the water. It’s not very big, but could be rideable on the high-volume board as the tide comes in early afternoon. A strong cold front brings northerly winds rotating more north-east Friday and into the weekend, when we see strong, high angled north-east swell and north-east winds for Saturday. This north-east wind swell begins to fade on Sunday. Looks like some waves around this weekend, just not the best swell angle for Folly Beach, as is usually the case with a strong north/north-east wind.

It’s 63* and cloudy this morning. Look for a nice day with sun behind clouds and a high of 76*.

Water temperature is slowly dropping, now 71*.

Sunrise is at 6:42 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:23 p.m.
