Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, November 10 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are chest-to-head high and sweeping down the beach with a strong north/north-east wind at 25 to 35 knots. The surf is breaking well into the bulkheads this morning, and no one is surfing.
Look for north/north-east winds at 25 to 35 knots with tropical storm winds in the forecast. Surf will be drifty and choppy all day. There is a tropical storm warning in effect.
We have a high tide this morning at 8:40 a.m., and a low tide will be at 3:03 p.m. The next high tide will be at 9:02 pm.
The Edisto Buoy is all over the place. Reading 8.5 feet at 11 seconds in a south/south-east swell, with a wind swell 13.5 feet at 10 seconds from the east.
Tropical Storm Nicole is in the picture, pushing up big surf and big winds though late Friday. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for our marine area today and Friday. With high pressure situated to our north and Nicole developing to our south, we should see winds continue to significantly increase from the north/north-east today, rotating south/south-east – straight on-shore – for Friday as the storm passes to our west. Not a time for beginners, that’s for sure. Saturday, winds come south-west, chewing up some leftovers. Finger crossed for a quick clean up Sunday morning as winds come north-west after a cold front passage early Saturday. Keep an eye on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning to see when we get a quick clean up.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Tropical Cyclone Nicole is expected to impact the area today into Friday. A strong cold front will sweep across the region Saturday, with cool high pressure building in its wake. Refer to the latest advisory on Nicole issued by the National Hurricane Center.”
Water temperature is running around 70*
It’s a cool 65* and raining this morning. The wind is blowing. Look for rain and Tropical Storm conditions today.
Sunrise is at 6:45 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:42 p.m.
