Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat to knee.
Traffic: Not bad.
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: Flatness.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, October 1 at 8:30 a.m.

You can now park in right-of-way on the side streets at Folly Monday through Thursday. Keep in mind parking restrictions still apply Friday through Sunday. Check the City of Folly Beach’s Web site for more information.

We still have a mandatory mask ordinance in effect for Folly Beach.

Surf at Folly is flat, maybe knee high in a set.

Winds are west/north-west at at 5  knots, and the surf-zone is clean.

Look for winds to increase north-west this morning at 5 to 10, going south-west at 5 to 10 this afternoon.

We just came off a high tide, and low tide will be at 2:18 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:34 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is down, but virtual buoy is showing 1.5 ft at 7 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

North-west winds and no swell making systems have left us with small surf conditions today. You’ll need a long-board if you want to get wet. High pressure brings moderate north-east winds and smaller swell for Friday. North-east winds increase into the weekend, and we see smallish, high-angled north-east wind swell fill in Saturday into Sunday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Thursday. A dry cold front will then shift across the area Thursday night, followed by more high pressure this weekend. A coastal trough will pass near the area early next week, before high pressure returns during the middle of next week.”

It’s 63* and really nice out. Look for perfect fall beach weather, with sun and a high of 70*.

Water temperature is 75*.

Sunrise is at 7:14 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:02 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
