Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m.
The Follypalooza cancer benefit will take place this Saturday. Also, the Carolina Surf Film Festival is coming up next weekend – that’s Friday, October 18 and Saturday October 19. Tickets and more information available at carolinasurffilmfestival.com.
Surf at The Washout this morning is pushing thigh high. There is a waist set.
Winds are from north at 20 knots and it’s beating down the swell, but it’s rideable on a high-volume board. There is a drift north-to-south, down the beach.
We see winds calm to 10 to 12 knots from the north-east this afternoon. This adds bump to the surf-zone.
We have a low tide at 12:13 p.m., and a high tide will be at 6:35 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 ft. at 9 seconds in a long period east ground swell, with a north-east wind-swell – 5.9 ft. at 7 seconds.
Strong, side-shore, cool north winds are keeping surf semi-clean but drifty this morning averaging thigh to waist high. You’ll need a spring suit this morning with the chill in the air. This afternoon, look for bumpy surf with a north-east wind at 10 to 12 knots with some drift from north-to-south, down the beach. The swell falls off tomorrow, before surf goes small for the weekend, and into early next week. Hope y’all enjoyed all of this swell, because it’s back to basics here at Folly for the extended forecast. It makes us want to cry.
We have glorious weather at the beach. It’s a cool 65* and sunny this morning. Time for some neoprene. Look for a high of 75* and sun all day.
Water temperature has dropped to 77*.
Sunrise is at 7:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:53 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
