Good morning, this is Bates with your morning surf report for, Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8:30 a.m.

Y’all come check out our selection of neoprene. The waves are going to get good early next week, and you’ll want to be warm for early morning – or late afternoon – sessions.

This report is for all you long-haul commuters out there. God bless ‘ya! ‘Ya pelicans.

Waves at Folly are knee to thigh high and breaking right on the beach at the high tide. What little swell there is, it’s not breaking.

Winds are north-east at 5 to 10 knots, and surf is clean, but should begin to chop as the day continues.

Winds will be increasing east/north-easterly today as the day wears on. And should be up 15 to 20 by day’s end.

We have high tide at report time, low tide will be at 2:58 p.m. The next high tide is at 9 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 11 seconds out of the south-east.

We have small surf for today, but look for north-east winds to build north-east wind swell into the weekend. We will have marginal conditions with east to north-east winds keeping short-period wind swell in the game. Rideable, but conditions won’t be great. Drifty, chopy. Early next week could be the call as it looks like we’ll get some ground-swell as a front approaches and creates some on-shore flow from the east/south-east. This should push in some swell, and will hopefully offer us some better conditions. All kinds of hurricanes out there that look like they won’t doo too much in the next two days. Most are well out into the Atlantic or off the coast of Africa. It is possible to see some swell from Leslie later next week, but we’ll see. The Outer Banks would be the best swell magnet for these storms from so far off.

Your National Weather Service National Weather Service forecast for our marine area: “Broad high pressure will remain across the region through the rest of the work week. A weak cold front will move through the area on Saturday with another stronger cold front possible early next work week.”

Its Sunny and pleasant outside high of 84*

Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m., Sunset 7:01 p.m.
