Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, Oct. 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are flat. It’s a great day for near-shore waterskiing.
Winds are north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is perfectly clean.
Look for north winds at 5 knots becoming south-west this afternoon. Surf stays clean overall for your Thursday.
We have a low tide at 10:25 a.m., and a high tide will be at 4:49 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 feet at 7 seconds in a very small, short-period easterly swell.
There is no surf in the forecast likely through Saturday, when winds will come stronger from the north-east and create some high-angled, drifty wind swell that’s likely not much to write home about. This wind swell continues to build Sunday and into early next week. Late Saturday into Sunday looks to be the best hope for some surf, but nothing too great.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Dry high pressure will remain over the area through next Tuesday. A cold front could move through mid-week.”
Water temperature is running around 70*
It’s a chilly 49* and sunny this morning. Look for a sunny day with cool temperatures and a high of 65*.
Sunrise is at 7:26 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:43 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
