Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, October 21 at 8:30 a.m.

We just received a shipment of new Carver Surfskates. Come get one while we still have a good selection.

Surf at the Washout is once again very small. Ankle high.

Winds are west/north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is very clean.

Look for south-west winds at 15 knots this afternoon, and we see the surf zone getting progressively choppy as the day wears on.

High tide will be at 8:54 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:11 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:16 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 1foot at 8 seconds in a medium-period east/south-east swell.

We have basically no surf today, but wind swell will be picking up this afternoon into Friday as a cold front approaches. It’s not going to push up much, but some thigh high choppy south-west wind swell is on tap. High pressure will dominate our weather pattern Saturday and into the next work week. Unfortunately surf is looking small for the next five days. Tropics are quiet for now.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Atlantic High pressure will prevail through tonight. A weak cold is forecasted to move through late Friday. High pressure will then return for the weekend, potentially followed by a storm system next week.”

It’s 65* and mostly cloudy, early.  Look for sun with some clouds and a high of 76* today. We still have beautiful October weather here at the beach.

Water temperature is 74*.

Sunrise is at 7:28 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:39 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
