Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, October 7 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set. It’s occasionally a little bigger. Looks fun this morning, if not a little weak. I should get better form as the tide drops out some.  There is a slight drift down the beach from north-to-south.

Winds are north at 5 to 10 knots, and surf is fairly clean.

Look for moderate north-east winds at 5 to 10 knots today, and we see a semi-clean surf zone for most of your Thursday.

High tide is at 9 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:14 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:15 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 feet at 7 in an east/south-east swell with a south-east wind swell 3.6 feet at 6 seconds.

There is some swell at the buoy, and it’s a decent morning of rideable surf out here at Folly. This trend should continue late week with surf averaging waist high late week. We have a home-grown low pressure system approaching our marine area through late week and a low moving from the west as well. Look for semi-choppy conditions the storm systems move through our marine area late week. We should see rideable, semi-choppy wind-swell through Saturday, dropping off some Sunday and into the work week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A complex storm system will bring periods of unsettled weather through late this week. Weak high pressure will build into the region from the north this weekend, and is expected to persist into the first half of next week.”

It’s mostly cloudy and 74* this morning. Look for a high of 79* today. We should see mostly cloudy skies and rain showers in the area today.
