Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, Oct. 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are small. It’s flat to maybe knee high.  The surf is not good, but it’s absolutely gorgeous weather today. If you can go fishing, do it.

Winds are north/north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is perfectly glassy.

We see winds from the north-west until around mid-afternoon, when wind goes south at 10 to 15. This will add some surface chop to the surf zone, but waves stay small.

Low tide will be at 11:30 a.m., and high tide will be at 6 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy 1.3 feet at 10 seconds in a long period east/south-east ground swell. Nothing showing at the beach.

Small surf continues into the weekend as high pressure is set up over our marine area with cooler weather predicted and slack winds for the end of the work week. A cold front pushes off-shore Friday night, keeping surf small. We look for high-angled north-east wind waves to build starting small on Sunday and building a bit into the first half of the work week. Look for drifty, side-shore conditions, and cooler weather.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail before a cold front pushes through the area Friday night. High pressure will return for the weekend and early next week.”

Water Temperature went way down during hurricane Ian. It’s running around 71*.

It’s Locals Only weather this morning. It’s 66* with bright sun this morning. Look for a beautiful beach day with a high of 74* and nothing but sun.

Sunrise is at 7:17 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:58 p.m.
