Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, September 12 at 8:30 a.m.

We have all of our men’s board-shorts, hybrids and walk-shorts marked 20% off at the shop. We have a great selection. Come check them out.

Surf at The Washout this morning is running knee to thigh high. It’s breaking right on the beach at high tide this morning. It should get better form as the tide rolls out some.

Winds are east/north-east at 5 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and semi-clean.

Look for winds from the north-east at 10 to 15 knots with choppy surf by late morning.

We had a high tide just after sun-rise, and low tide will be at 1:22 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:49 pm.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft at 10 seconds in a long-period east swell.

Our next significant swell should materialize this weekend as a tropical low – Invest 95 – approaches Florida to our south, sending another decent sized ground swell our way starting mid-afternoon on Friday, and then building on Saturday into Sunday. The storm will likely be a named tropical storm late day, and might be something we need to keep an eye on. We should see continued swell with moderate winds from the east/north-east forecast for our marine area Sunday into Monday, causing some chop on a fading ground swell. There are also a few spots to watch in the tropics, but we’ll monitor those for two weeks out.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for:
“High pressure to the north should prevail through tonight,
then dissipate on Friday as a front also passes to our north.
A tropical wave currently to our southeast could bring impacts to
our area this weekend into early next week, as it passes near the region.”

It’s 78* at the beach this morning and sunny. Look for a hot day with a high of 87* and sun today.

Water temperature is 83*.

Sunrise is at 7 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:29 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
