Surf is waist- high and very choppy this morning in a building south-east wind swell.
Winds are from the south-east at 15 to 20. So, it’s straight on-shore.
Look for winds to remain from the south-east today. With gusts to 25 knots as the remainders of what was Tropical Storm Sally moves to our south.
We had a high tide at 8:15 a.m., and a low tide will be at 2:22 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:36 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is down. Virtual buoy data showing 4 ft at 8 seconds in east swell with an increasing south-east wind swell component.
Surf at Folly currently showing waist-high and choppy. It should build in choppy south-east wind-swell this afternoon. Hurricane Sally will push across and off our coast as a remnant low today. Look for similar waves all day today. Friday sees a possible quick clean up of this choppy south wind swell, as wind go west. So, there might be a few waves cleaning up on Friday morning. Saturday we should see swell begin to fill in from Hurricane Teddy, but strong north/side-shore winds are forecast for Saturday, going strong north-east Saturday night. There will, however be surf this weekend, so keep an eye on Teddy over the weekend, and look for increasing north winds.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Tropical cyclone Sally will continue to weaken as it tracks through central Georgia and South Carolina today while a warm front shifts north through the area this morning. A cold front will then pass through on Friday, followed by strong high pressure through early next week back in and prevail into early next week.”
It’s 79* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 83* with rain in the forecast this afternoon.
Water temperature is 84*.
Sunrise is at 7:04 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:21 p.m.
