Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, September 23 at 8:30 a.m.
We actually got a few Billabong men’s spring suits and O’Neill jackets in, so come grab one while we have a few left. It has cooled off a good bit late week.
Surf at the Washout is waist-to-stomach high. Maybe slightly larger. It’s nice and clean this morning. Looks fun for the high-volume board. It is soft at the higher tide but there is a small, long-period ground swell running, and it looks really fun.
Winds are north-west at 5 to 10 knots and should continue off-shore today. Probably a good day to get wet with clean, fall-like conditions all day.
We have a high tide at 10:30 a.m., and a low tide will be at 4:16 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:26 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 10 seconds in a long-period east/south-east ground swell.
After a cold front passage overnight, winds are more offshore and there is fun, small ground swell from what is now Tropical Depression Peter. This trend continues into Friday. Look for waves to drop off for the weekend as north-east flow increases and sends north-easterly swell past our beaches and down to Florida. But the weather will be beautiful.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will build across the region today, then prevail this weekend through the middle of next week.”
It’s a beautiful 67* and sunny. Look for a high of 78* and sun today.
Water temperature is around 82*.
Sunrise is at 7:08 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:15 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
