We still have a mandatory mask ordinance in effect for Folly Beach.

Surf at The Washout is knee-to-thigh high this morning and closing out at the lower tide. It show a little potential for a high-volume board late morning as the tide comes in.

Winds are north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is very clean.

Look for variable winds this morning, with south-east winds at 5 to 8 knots this afternoon. Surf should be relatively clean all day.

We are coming off a low tide at 8 a.m., and high tide will be at 2:54 p.m. The next low tide will be at 9:03 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is down, but there is some significant east/north-east ground swell headed past our beaches today, with some residual easterly ground swell showing here at Folly.

Swell continues to fade today. We could see some south-east wind swell pick up for your Friday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Beta move across our area. Look for wind-swell into the waist/stomach high range with south winds keeping surf fairly choppy for your Friday. This should continue Saturday morning, fading some Saturday afternoon on the outgoing tide. The tropics are finally getting quiet, for a time. There is a chance for some smaller trade-wind swell for the high-volume board this weekend as south/south winds pick up ahead of an appraching cold front.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will shift offshore today. Rain chances will increase on Friday as remnants from Beta and an upper-level trough track just north of the region. A cold front will approach early next week.

It’s nice and cool this morning. It’s 67* and sunny. Look for a high of 79* today and sun with some clouds passing.

Water temperature has dropped with the cooler weather, is 74*. You’ll need a neoprene jacket.

Sunrise is at 7:09 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:12 p.m.
