Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday September 2 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is thigh-to-waist high with a slightly larger set in a very clean, leftover south wind-swell.
It is closing out at the lower tide this morning, and we hope surf can keep some push as the tide comes in early afternoon, but we do expect this short period wind swell will fade off today.
Winds are north/north-west at 10 knots, and surf zone is very clean, early.
Winds become north-east at 10 knots later today. This makes surf side-shore and semi-clean for afternoon.
Low tide is at 10:35 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:11 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 6 seconds in a fading, short period south/south-west wind swell.
Surf looks like it will be falling off some this afternoon afternoon. Probably best for the high-vooume board. Friday and into the weekend, we see smaller surf and high-angled, north-east wind chop fill in. Dropping off for the weekend. We should see groundswell from Hurricane Larry fill in Wednesday into Thursday of next week, with locally moderate winds on a long-period groundswell. Look for real waves during the middle of next week.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will push off the coast today, followed by high pressure through the weekend. Another cold front looks to approach the region early next week, possibly stalling inland.”
It’s 78* this morning and sunny. A little less humidity today with a high of 83* and lots of sun.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:54 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:44 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
