drifty

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: thigh-waist
Traffic: Not too bad.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, September 28 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf has picked up a bit showing thigh-waist high in drifty NE wind-swell. Winds are side-offshore nothing great but if your itching to surf theirs a wave.

Winds are north/north-east at 10-12 knots, and a little gusty. Creating some drift and light chop on the surface.

We just came off a high tide. Look for low tide at 1:45 P.m. and another high tide after sunset at 8:02 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.2ft at 6 seconds in short period ENE wind-swell.

Surf has built curtesy of our local NE winds. We will have unstable weather producing wind-swell late week and into the weekend. We have Tropical Storm Phillipe still heading our general direction although models now suggesting a weaker storm as it enters our window over the later portion of the weekend into early next week. Models have been all over the place. Again still a bit early to tell what we will get if anything from the tropics early next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A wedge of high pressure will build into the region today and holds into early next week, while a broad trough of low pressure persists well offshore.”

 Water temperature is around 78*.

It’s 71 and cloudy with a little rain. Look for temps around 75* today with clouds and light rain this afternoon.

Sunrise is at 7:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:10 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
