Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, September 7th at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly is back down a bit today showing knee high on this mornings drained out low tide. Perhaps a longboard wave on offer mid-morning tide push. But not a whole lot out there.
Winds are west/south-west at around 5 kts, so there is some chatter in the surf zone. Winds are forecasted to bounce around west/north-west before noon and eventually south around 10-15 mph.
Low tide was 8:28 a.m. High will be at 3:05 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 4 seconds in short period SW wind-swell.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will persist across the region through late week. A cold front is then expected to arrive this weekend, before weak high pressure returns heading through early next week.”
Water temperature is around 85*.
It’s 78* with clear skies. The breeze feels fantastic. Look for a high of 88* with sun. It’s a nice beach day.
Sunrise is at 6:57 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:38 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
Surf again is around knee high at best. We officially have Hurricane Lee east of the Caribbean islands and could hit Cat 4-5. All models are pretty tight in the three-five day forecast with a west/north-west track and move into our swell window by Monday. A lot can change in the next 5 days with this system. Looking like significant ground-swell could be expected late Sunday into early next week. Also further east we now have invest 96 that looks to become a tropical storm but push northward over the central Atlantic. Lots to watch.
