Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, April 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf is around thigh-to-waist high with a stomach-high set this morning. It looks kind of fun for the high-volume board on the incoming tide this morning.
Winds are north at around 5 knots, so surf is overall clean.
Look for winds to rotate onshore this afternoon from the south-east at 10 to 15 knots. We see a choppy surf zone this afternoon.
We are coming off a low tide this morning. We have a high tide at 1:14 p.m. and low tide will be at 7:23 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.
We’re showing a little south-east swell at the buoy today, and there are some rideable waves as the tide comes in this morning. Swell should build again late week from the south-east ahead of a low pressure system moving out of the GOMEX. So look for late week to produce some pre-frontal wind waves with swell direction and wind coming from the south through Saturday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail today and tonight. Weak low pressure tracking across the Southeast U.S. will bring impacts to the area later Thursday into Friday. A cold front could move through the region early next week followed by high pressure.
It’s 65* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of around 75* and sun today. A perfect beach day.
Water temperature is back down to 65* after the cold snap.
Sunrise is at 7:01 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:43 p.m.
