Clean early. Slight surface chop later.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat. Maybe knee.
Traffic: Not as bad as last week, that's for sure.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: None.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, April 18 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is very small this morning. It’s flat to maybe knee high.

Winds are light from the north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is perfectly clean. A great morning for water-skiing right off the beach.

Look for winds to stay north-west this morning, going south-east this afternoon at 5 to 10 knots.

We are coming off a high-tide at 7:30 a.m. We have a low tide at 1:14 a.m. and high tide will be at 7:33 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 4 seconds in short period north-west wind swell, blowing everything down right off-shore.

If you want a perfect boating/fishing day, this is it. Surfing, not so much. Our surf generally stays down most of our work week as high pressure builds in over our region keeping the surf small. Our weather all week though looks amazing for some beach time. We should see surf begin to pick up late in the week in a small south-east swell for Friday. For this weekend, as a cold front approaches, we see short=period, choppy south-to-south west wind swell pick up Saturday into Sunday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will be the dominant feature through the week. A cold front could move through early this weekend.”

It is cool this morning. It’s 57* and sunny. Look for a perfect beach day with a high of 70*, sun and lower humidity.

Water temperature is 68*. Them fish are biting.

Sunrise is at 6:46 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:51 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
