Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, April 24 at 8:30 a.m.
We have LOTS of boards on sale, including $100 off Roberts and WRV, come check out what we have in stock for this week’s upcoming swell.
Surf at the Washout is running stomach to chest high with shoulder high sets. Occasionally it is a little bigger to slightly-overhead.
Wind is out of the south/south-west at 5 to 10, and surf is side-shore, dirifty, bumpy and semi-clean on the faces. It is closing out a bit at the morning’s low tide and heavy.
Look for south-west winds at 10 to 15 knots today and some cross-up in the waves, but there is plenty of swell pushing through the wind, and it should be fun all day.
Low tide is at 10 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:22 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:21 p.m.
The Edisto buoy reading 6.6 ft. at 10 seconds in medium period south-east swell combined with a south/south-east wind swell 121 ft. at 6 seconds. Plenty of swell at the buoy heading straight at the beach.
We have big, fun waves today average chest high with a bigger set and it should stay pretty fun all day long, perhaps shedding some size late day. South-west winds will keep things kind of bumpy/choppy, but there is plenty of south wind swell as the low that brought us all of that rain and wind yesterday moves up the coast. We see fun waist to stomach high leftovers with cleaner conditions and nice weather on Wednesday. Surf should still be longboardable on Thursday with much cleaner waves, and there should be some rideable south/south-west wind swell through Friday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will cross the area today and will slowly move up the east coast through mid week. An upper level disturbance will move over the area Thursday night, followed by a cold front late week or early this weekend. High pressure will then build over the region through early next week.”
It is mostly cloudy on the beach this morning and 66*, but look for some clearing later today and a high of 72*
Water temperature is around 65*.
Sunset is at 7:56 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:38 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
