Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, April 5 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the Washout are knee-high and overall very weak in a fresh south wind swell.

Winds are south-east at 10 to 12 knots this morning, and surf is semi-choppy.

Look for winds to go south-east at 15 to 20 this afternoon as south wind-swell builds, and surf zone chops up.

We have a high tide at 11:29 a.m., and a low tide at 5:19 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 feet at 7 seconds in a south-east swell mixed with a fresh and building south-east wind swell.

We see another south wind swell begin to fill in this afternoon ahead of another series of storms that will move into our marine area from the west. This trend continues through mid-week with strong south winds going south-west Wednesday and Thursday. Surf will increase in size but will have some wind on it. This could clean up late day Thursday or maybe on Friday, depending in the timing of the front. Surf will be small again next weekend as high pressure sets up, and beautiful, cooler weather returns.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A potent low pressure system will move through the region through tonight bringing a round of strong thunderstorms to southeast Georgia and southeast South Carolina. A cold front will approach the area on Wednesday, before pushing offshore on Thursday. Drier and cooler weather is expected to return late week through the weekend.”

It’s currently 68* with bright sun. Look for a high of 71* this afternoon with the possibility of strong thunderstorms later today.

Water Temperature is around 65*.

Sunrise is at 7:02 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:42 p.m.
