Clean. Not too much wind today.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Waist-to-chest. Slightly larger.
Traffic: Busy.
Parking: Not much.
Dangers: Covid-19 spike along the Carolina Coast.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, August 25 at 8:15 a.m.

New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.

Mandatory mask ordinance is in effect for Folly.

Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-chest high. There is a bigger set, but it is closing out some early at the lower tide.

Winds are light from the north/north-west, and waves are pretty clean. Definitely fun out there today.

Look for winds to stay rotate south at 5 knots, and surf should be bumpy, but pretty fun, this afternoon.

We are coming off a low tide just after sunrise. High tide will be at 2:10 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:18 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5 ft. at 9 seconds in a south-easterly ground swell.

Swell has been picking up at the Edisto Buoy, and we look for building surf this afternoon as Tropical Storm Laura is churning into the Gulf of Mexico. We expect stronger SE swell to peak today in the waist to chest high range, and fall off some into mid-week. This swell fades Wednesday, although surf should remain rideable the remainder of the work week as south wind-swell should keep a small wave for us. Either way were surfing the next several days!

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will expand across the eastern United States through the middle of the week, then shift east as a cold front approaches next weekend.”

It’s 80* with clouds and showers passing through. Look for a high of 85 with a 50% chance of rain this afternoon.

Water temperature is 86*.

Sunrise is at 6:49 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:53 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
