Good morning and Happy August, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday August 1st at 8:30 a.m.
Today is a good day to relax and get things done. It’s pretty much flat at the washout and breaking right on shore.
Surfs down early week check out @castaway.with.us for some fun on the water. Kayaks, Sups and boat trips.
Winds are northeast at 4 knots, and surf-zone is clean. Winds are forecasted increase to 10 kts+ today
We are just coming off a high tide at 7:50 a.m. Low tide to follow at 1:59 p.m. with a high tide to conclude the day at 8:37 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 feet at 9 seconds in a medium-period east-south-east swell.
It’s pretty small today so go for a long paddle or get things done on the home front. Surf continues to stay down until later Weds/Thur. We are watching invest 96 that is slowly getting its act together. This system is heading WNW with an expected hard turn North just before Bermuda. I think we should see some mild groundswell fill in late weds into Thursday a.m. thigh-belly high surf on better tides. This swell will be a hit and run as 96 doesn’t stay in our window very long. Well keep you posted.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will drop south of the area today, allowing high pressure to prevail through late week. Another cold front could impact the region late weekend into early next week.”
Water temperature is around 85*.
It’s 77* and sunny this morning. It feels great out. Expect sunny to partly cloudy and hot today with a high of 85*. It’s gonna be warm out, but a beautiful day at the beach.
